English Faculty

The English department has recently been acknowledged as being in the top 1% of all English departments nationally, both in state and private sectors. Part of this success is due to an innovative and stimulating curriculum, which makes demands on pupils of all abilities. Pupils have the opportunity to meet published authors, take part in national competitions and visits to theatres.

Exceptionally able pupils may read and analyse a range of texts, beyond the usual curriculum, and are given the opportunity to take part in extension activities and creative challenges.

The excellent standard of English teaching is due in no small part to the high calibre of staff in the department, both in academic ability and teaching skills. As with all of our subjects the teaching staff are focused on pupil learning and they work together to refine their skills to deliver a consistently outstanding diet for pupils.
