History

The History Department employs a variety a teaching and learning strategies allowing all pupils to enjoy the subject and achieve their potential.  We make history come alive through the use of enquiries, stories, role-play, ICT material, interactive whiteboard activities and fieldwork. History allows pupils to understand what is going on around them in a wider context and see how the events of the past shape the world today.

Fieldwork, local, national and international, is an integral part of History at The Westgate. Each Year group is offered the opportunity to participate in a relevant visit, which supports and extends their learning in the classroom.
