Statistics

Statistics is a popular choice for able pupils and has a 100% pass rate

At Key Stage 4 our most able mathematicians complete the GCSE Statistics course alongside their GCSE Mathematics course. The GCSE Statistics is assessed by one examination at the end of year 11. The pass rate over the last few years for this course is 100%.

Topics covered for GCSE Statistics include binomial probabilities, measures of spread including interquartile range and standard deviation, measures of correlation including Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient, and birth and death rates.

Pupils are invited to take part in the GCSE Statistics course based upon their apptitude and end of year 9 results.

Pupils wishing to study A’ level Mathematics or other A levels requiring analysis of data, such as Economics or Geography, often find this course very useful.
