Health and Social Care

The course provides the technical knowledge and understanding for pupils requiring a broad background enabling them to progress to further education, training or employment. The course contains a significant amount of group work and class discussions. Pupils need to be able to work in a more open approach and as a result from this will gain an insight into the world of work .In addition successful completion of the course will gain students two GCSE grades.

Employment in the field might include Care Assistant, Pre-school/Nursery School Assistant or Social Work. The qualification would also contribute towards the meeting the entry requirements for nursing or professions such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy and pharmacy. It could also contribute towards meeting the entry requirements for teaching and working with people with disabilities.
