Geography GCSE trip to Iceland

The Geography Department has taken a group of pupils to Iceland for the last four years. The aim is to gain first-hand experience of a very different environment and have a good time. Many of the places visited can be used as examples for GCSE work.

Iceland is an amazing country with so many exciting and awe-inspiring features. We visit Pingvellir and walk down the rift between the continents. We walk behind waterfalls and beside glaciers. The coastline boasts one of the best beaches in the world with black sand and magnificent stacks and sea caves. At Geysir the pupils watch in fascination as the steam and water shoots 30m into the sky.

Even with all these wonders to see, the high spot for many pupils are the heated, outdoor swimming pools, with their hotpots around the edge; the ultimate example being The Blue Lagoon, where the steam rising from the water makes for a magical experience.

The Westgate Geography department is delighted to be offering our successful Iceland field trip for all pupils who will be in year 10 during the academic year 2012-2013.  The trip will run during 2013 Easter Holidays. The cost of the trip is £910 per student.
