The tradition of Christmas markets began hundreds of years ago in Germany and, nowadays they are one of Germany’s top tourist attractions with thousands of tourists flocking to the German cities each December to visit them. Cologne, with its abundance of picture-book wooden stalls, laden with hand-made crafts, toys, beautiful candles and scrumptious local treats such as gingerbread, roasted almonds and spicy sausages, is one of the biggest and most famous Christmas markets.
Upon arrival in Cologne, we go for a hearty German buffet breakfast, then visit several of the Christmas markets dotted around the city of Cologne as well as the famous gothic cathedral. Afternoon activities include a visit to the Lindl chocolate factory and ice-skating! We round off the trip by having dinner in the Hard Rock Cafe before boarding the bus for the journey home!
