Hampshire Youth Support Service

In April 2011 Hampshire County Council combined Connexions and the Youth Service to form the new Hampshire Youth Support Service (YSS).

Hampshire YSS still works with young people, but has a more targeted service than before. There are Personal Advisers whose role it is to work with young people leaving care, 16/17 year olds with benefit/ housing need and young people with statements. You will only see them in schools if they are  attending Year 9 and Year 11 annual reviews for young people with statements.

There are also Careers Advisers whose role is very similar to before. They work with the 13-19 age group (up to 25 for young people who have disabilities or learning difficulties).

The Careers Adviser for Westgate school is Caroline Wallace. She is a qualified careers adviser and is available to talk to young people about their plans for the future – such as colleges and courses, apprenticeships and career ideas.

Caroline is in the school library every Thursday

You can request a careers interview by talking to your tutor, head of year or by emailing Caroline on caroline.wallace@remove-this.hants.gov.uk
