Stagecoach Drama and Music

- Winchester's team following rehearsals for Her Majesty's Theatre in London. (includes several Westgate pupils)
The Westgate is the ‘home’ of Winchester Stagecoach and has enjoyed a close working relationship in particular with the Drama and Music departments at the school. Stagecoach welcomes everyone and there is no audition to join. For three hours each week you will study exciting dance choreography, challenging drama and voice training in a number of styles. Students work in three age groups and class sizes are restricted to fifteen. Classes are held every weekend during term time on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Stagecoach teachers are all experts in their field (Singing, Dance or Drama) and have trained and performed professionally, many with and television experience.
Some of our students harbour ambitions for a performing career and go onto achieve that goal but many come to the classes for the sheer love of it.
For those keen to perform professionally The Stagecoach Agency offers representation to students of all ages with some Winchester students gaining work on television and film. One of our students Miffy Englefield played the part of Jude Law’s daughter in the film The Holiday and flew to where she had her own acting coach and tutor. Other recent successes include a Boots advert, speaking roles in The Whistleblowers and Casualty. Many of our students also successfully audition for the National Youth Theatre.
Stagecoach organise two shows each year at Her Majesty’s Theatre in `Home of Phantom of the Opera`, giving students the opportunity to perform on the West End stage. The show raises funds for Interact, The Stagecoach Charitable Trust who offer specialist workshops for children with a variety of special educational, physical or financial needs.
A week long workshop is offered in the summer holidays open to any student. The workshop includes classes in drama, dance and singing. Then everyone goes into rehearsals which leads to a final performance to which you can invite your family
For those with younger brothers and sisters we offer Early Stages classes for 4-6 year olds learning skills in drama, dance and singing for 90 minutes each week.
At Stagecoach you will gain confidence and self esteem these qualities are not just for the stage, they are skills for life.
