WELCOME TO THE WESTGATE SCHOOL LEARNING RESOURCES CENTRE
Opening times: 8.00am - 4.00pm Monday to Thursday - 8.00am - 3.50pm Friday
At the heart of the school, our Learning Resources Centre (LRC) provides a vital research facility, quiet study and reading area for our pupils. With a computer suite and well-stocked book shelves, it is an important teaching and learning resource during lesson times as well as a lending library for pupils and staff. The LRC is also open during break and lunchtimes to welcome pupils seeking a quiet haven for reading, research or doing homework. The LRC is home to the Breakfast Club, Homework Club, school Book Club and careers service.
Computer Suite
The computer suite is available for pupils to use during break and lunchtimes. Pupils wishing to use them should ask at the Issue Desk. At lunchtimes, pupils must hand in their planners for a computer pass.
Scholastic Book Club
Scholastic Book Club leaflets are regularly distributed to pupils throughout the year and offer books to buy at very competitive rates. The LRC receives 20% of our total order in free books, so it is a great way to support the school. Extra leaflets are available from the LRC Issue Desk.
Voucher Schemes
Please keep collecting Nestle cereal Box Tops For Books tokens, Tesco and Sainsbury’s vouchers. Boxes for each scheme are in the LRC.
The reading wheel scheme is used within the English Department. A copy is available at the LRC Issue Desk for pupils to consult in school.
