Trips abroad

Year 8 Water Sports to the Ardeche, France in July (9 days) about £800Â
Our annual water sports trip takes place around during the summer holidays each year. It is a twin centre setting – the Mimosa Centre in the Mediterranean and the Domaine de Segries activity centre in the Ardeche.​We will be staying at the Mimosa centre in the Mediterranean and the Domaine de Segries activity centre in the Ardeche, both run by PGL. As well as a three day exhilarating canoe descent of the Ardeche gorge, pupils will have the opportunity to experience windsurfing, sit-on kayaks, sailing and numerous other activities at the Mediterranean centre.​This trip is a fantastic opportunity for pupils in Key Stage 3 to learn in a different setting and in partnership with adults and each other.Â

Year 8 Normandy, France (3 days)

Year 9 History trip in Ypres, Belgium in November (2 days) about £200
Explore the environment in which 2 million soldiers became casualties in one of humanities most brutal wars. The Ypres battlefields experience a unique chance to explore one of humankinds most sombre and revealing place on Earth.Â
Pupils will be able to explore the gorgeous European city of Ypres and see some of the most famous sites from the Western Front from the Menin Gate where we will hear the Last Post, to the Tyne Cot Cemetery, one of the biggest of the Commonwealth cemeteries. Â
A memorable and remarkable trip awaits for the keen historian!Â

Year 9 and 10 Geography trip to Iceland April (4 days) about £1,200
The Iceland trip is offered to our Geographers. It provides a unique opportunity for pupils to see in practice a range of geographical features, building upon knowledge which they have gained in their lessons. They will have the chance to visit a range of famous geographical landmarks such as the Blue Lagoon, Gullfoss waterfall and Thingvellir National Park. This truly is an amazing country which offers an experience pupils an experience they will never forget!Â
Year 9 Language trip in Bay of Naples, Italy in Easter holidays (4 days) about £800

Year 9 Geography trip to Cornwall in June half term (3 days) about £400

Year 10 Ski trip to Austria in April (1 week) about £1,000
Experience the thrill of fresh powder snow and stunning scenery as we transport you for 5 days to the beautiful ski resorts in Austria.
You will stay in family run hotels, which are normally only minutes away from the slopes. Whether you are a total beginner or an advanced skier, you will experience a week of excellent tuition and miles of open slopes for you to explore.
In the evenings there are extra activities such as bowling, curling, ice cream parlours and the famous ice hockey match! It's a jam packed week and has always been one of the best trips that Westgate offer.

Year 11 German trip to Berlin, Germany in October (4 days) about £600
From the origins of colonisation to the litmus test for the Cold War, Berlin has happened to be at the centre of many of humanities biggest flashpoints in the past 150 years. Â
Pupils will embed themselves in Berlin life by using the public transport network and explore sites linked to the Franco-Prussian War, the First World War, the rise of Nazism, and the Cold War with Checkpoint Charlie on the Berlin Wall.Â
Year 11s have previously had such an amazing time deepening their understanding of their GCSE Germany course as well as extending their knowledge of European and global politics, culture, society and economics.Â
