This comprehensive document will give Year 11 pupils an insight into the breadth and depth of study at Barton Peveril and encourage them to begin the transition from secondary school to college education. Please click the link below for activities and material available.
The Student Portal hosts Google Classrooms for each of the subjects offered at Barton Peveril and consists of further resources, information and activities. Students have been assigned to Google Classrooms for the subjects that they selected on their applications, however they can explore any of our subjects’ Classrooms to find our more information and make an informed decision on their programme of study. Each subject classroom will be updated every Monday during term time.
Those who are new to Google Classroom can watch this video from Rachel Sansom, our Director of Teacher Training and Development, to better understand how the platform works.
Alongside Google Classrooms, the Student Portal also contains useful guides for the Google platforms that Barton Peveril students use on a daily basis, as well as a link to our Offer Holders Facebook group and other news and information. Please note that if a student does not choose to enrol at Barton Peveril in August, their account will be deactivated.
Please see below for useful links you can share with your Year 11 students:

"Firstly, we have created a central page on our website to help Year 11’s prepare for college in September, and they will be able to access lots of different subject specific resources on there. This will include information about the college, the courses they have applied for, contact information for curriculum leaders and tasks/work to do.

We also are running online subject sessions with Year 11’s starting on Monday the 11th of May. We will be contacting all applicants via email to inform them of how to access these sessions.

Secondly, as we have cancelled our upcoming events as a result of Covid-19, we will be holding an Online Open Event to replace these on the 9th of June. There will be a variety of talks, including one from the Principal, Anthony Bravo, a talk about the support we offer at BCoT, and an apprenticeship talk. In addition there will be a variety of subject talks that applicants can sign up to. Timings will be confirmed nearer the time.
Lastly, we will also be conducting online Year 10 taster sessions in July. Details to be confirmed.
If you know of any students who would still like to apply to BCoT, please let them know that it is not too late - they are still more than welcome to apply via our website https://www.bcot.ac.uk/ where there is an option to ‘apply now’. When they have applied, we will be in touch with them to advise them on the next steps of their application. Please also make them aware of our upcoming online events. We will be posting more information on our social pages.
Our Careers Advisor Anna Thorpe is offering online careers advice sessions for applicants, so if you would like one, please email us and we can arrange one for you."
Virtual Open Event

Peter Symonds College
"Welcome to Peter Symonds College! We are delighted that you are considering applying to study with us.
We consider applications from all students and provided we have an appropriate course, hope to be able to offer them a place. Although applications are not considered on a first come first served basis, it is important to apply before the deadline. Interviews take place between October and March, but there is no disadvantage if you are interviewed later in the process.
If, when you apply, you are unsure which subjects you would like to study please don't worry! All course choices remain provisional until enrolment, at the end of August, when you will have received your GCSE results. To help with your course choices you will also have an opportunity to attend Welcome Day where you will try lessons in the subjects you are interested in studying. More information regarding individual subjects can be found on our 16-19 Course pages."
If you have any queries please don't hesitate to contact the Admissions Team.
