Twenty-five lucky pupils from Years 3 -6 got the chance to run across the iconic finish line of the London Mini Marathon at the weekend, the day before 56,000 people completed the London Marathon.
Entry to the mini marathon was by ballot, and Westgate were lucky to be given 25 places in the primary event. Over 17,000 school children completed either the 1 mile or 2 mile courses for primary and secondary pupils.
It was a very exciting day for our pupils, travelling to London by train, seeing the sights as they walked past Trafalgar Square and seeing Buckingham Palace as they approached the mile. The mini marathon started on Horse Guards Parade, around past Buckingham Palace and finished on the Mall.
In our wave of nearly 500 runners, our fastest pupils finished 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th! Some fantastic running! All the runners did brilliantly, and were handed their medals as they cross the finish line.
Thank you to all the parents and teachers who supported this day.
