GCSE success marks another year of academic excellence

The Westgate School is once again delighted to be celebrating the achievements of the most recent GCSE cohort. Pupil progress at the school in English and Maths is the highest in the county, and the school continues to perform consistently in the top of the performance tables for progress 8, with a score well above national average of 0.7. This means that pupils who learn at The Westgate School achieve almost a grade higher than those in other schools, across each of their top 8 subjects.

The Westgate School also sits in the top of the school performance tables for pupils’ attainment at GCSE level, reflecting the exceptionally high level of academic achievement reached by pupils attending the school.

These are particularly impressive achievements because The Westgate School has one of the highest percentage of pupils entering the EBACC (academic curriculum) among all schools represented in the Hampshire school tables.

The Westgate School recently celebrated the achievements of the 2024 leavers at the school’s annual presentation evening, which included three pupils who gained 10 Grade 9s (the highest grade possible for GCSEs).  This is an achievement shared by only 545 pupils nationwide.  11% of GCSE grades for Westgate pupils were awarded a grade 9, more than double the national average of 5%.

Congratulations to all former pupils for another outstanding year!
